The stream runs along a valley covered with trees and then flows into a river with many rapids. Early mornings in Quang Binh are cold, and even colder in the middle of the Truong Son jungle. However, on the banks of Bang stream, the heat from the water carries a strong sulfur smell, warming the surrounding air.

The stream water was murky green, in many places it was black and steaming. On both sides of the stream, under the rocks, were pools of water the size of conical hats, the water was crystal clear and boiling. The plump crabs brought up from Nhat Le beach, thrown in there, immediately curled up their sticks and claws and quickly turned orange. In just 5 minutes, the 0.5kg crab was cooked from the inside out and was strangely sweet and delicious. Even a famous chef could not create such a crab flavor on the stove.

Bang Spring was discovered during the period of “cutting through Truong Son to save the country”. This place used to be the military hospital of Truong Son troops. This special hot spring helped heal many wounds and restore health to thousands of soldiers. After the war, Bang Spring was forgotten. It was not until 1990 that Quang Binh province opened a road to exploit Bang Spring water to make bottled mineral water.

Along with the world-famous Phong Nha Cave, Bang Hot Spring with a boiling point of 105 degrees Celsius is an extremely precious gift that nature has given to Quang Binh province.
