AN SINH TROOC VUC TEMPLE – A SACRED PLACE TO THANK THE ORIGIN

An Sinh Temple in Trooc Vuc is a new tourist destination located in the South of Quang Binh province, in a very beautiful location in terms of feng shui, where the river converges at the confluence of three rivers, the source of Kien Giang river.

We Vietnamese are all taught that we are “children of Lac, grandchildren of Hong”; the National Ancestor Lac Long Quan and the National Mother Au Co united to give birth to “a sac of one hundred eggs”. Dynasties from ancient times to the present have recognized the Ancestors, honored them, and granted them honor and nobility to their descendants. Temples to the National Ancestors and National Mothers have been built and worshiped for generations to remember our origins. Dai Viet Su Ky Toan Thu, Ngoai Ky, period Hong Bang, recorded. Kinh Duong Vuong’s real name was Loc Tuc, a descendant of the Than Nong family.

In the past, the third generation grandson of the Yan Emperor, the Shennong Emperor, was Emperor Minh, who gave birth to Emperor Nghi. Later, Emperor Minh, while on a tour of the South, arrived at Ngu Linh and married the daughter of Vu Tien, who gave birth to King Kinh Duong Vuong. The King was an intelligent ruler, Emperor Minh loved him very much and wanted him to succeed to the throne. The King gave his throne to his brother, but did not dare to obey. Emperor Minh then established Emperor Nghi as his successor, to rule the North, and appointed the King as Kinh Duong Vuong, to rule the army of the South, calling the country Xich Quy.

The King married the daughter of Dong Dinh Quan named Than Long and gave birth to Lac Long Quan.

Lac Long Quan’s real name was Sung Lam, son of Kinh Duong Vuong. The King married De Lai’s daughter, Au Co, and had a hundred sons (according to legend, a hundred eggs), who were the ancestors of the Bach Viet. One day, the King told Au Co: “I am of the dragon race, you are of the fairy race, water and fire are incompatible, it is difficult to unite”. So they said goodbye to each other, 50 sons followed their mother to the mountains, 50 sons followed their father to the South, and the eldest son was appointed Hung Vuong, to succeed the throne.

An Sinh Trooc Vuc Temple – ANCESTOR MOTHER LINH TU – was built in Truoc Vuc, An Sinh hill, Van Minh village, Truong Thuy commune, Le Thuy district, Quang Binh province to pay tribute to the Mother Goddess of Lac Viet, Princess Than Long, Mother of Lac Long Quan – the Ancestor of the Vietnamese people; also in accordance with the morality of “when drinking water, remember the source, birds have nests, people have ancestors, trees have roots, life has a source”.

The temple is located at the head of the majestic An Sinh gorge, where Rao Me/Rao Nay and Rao Con meet to form the cool, green confluence of the Kien Giang River.

An Sinh Abyss was known by the ancients as a sacred land with many legends and myths. Duong Van An’s book O Chau Can Luc wrote: “The abyss is in Le Thuy district, where the Tho Ly source meets. Above, the mountain slopes are wide open, below, the water is clear and blue, the water is so clear that you can see the bottom, the depth is endless. Legend has it that there is an underground water palace at the bottom of the abyss. On cloudy rainy days, fishing boats passing by often hear the sound of drums and trumpets. In early spring, people pray for rain, set up an altar to worship and hold a boat racing festival, and it rains immediately.”

With the permission of the authorities, in April 2022, the investor of the project – Tri Nhan Tam Education Joint Stock Company broke ground for the construction of the project. Up to now, the project has basically completed the Temple/Shrine category and put into worship. After completion, it will be handed over to the government for management and promotion of its value. It is thought that this is a meaningful, humane, spiritual and cultural place for the people of Le Thuy and all directions to worship and make pilgrimages during the Tet holiday.
