The World Natural Heritage Phong Nha Ke Bang National Park not only has outstanding global values ​​in terms of geology, geomorphology and biodiversity but also has unique historical and cultural values. Here exists a complex of historical relics marking the feats of our army and people in the cause of defending the Fatherland and unifying the country and today has become a “Red Address” that people and tourists cannot miss when coming to Phong Nha – Ke Bang.

The most prominent of the historical sites in Phong Nha – Ke Bang National Park is the Memorial Temple for the heroic martyrs of Route 20 – Quyet Thang and the Eight Young Volunteers Cave (also known as the Eight Ladies Cave). The temple was established to commemorate the contributions of generations of soldiers, young volunteers, and frontline laborers who built, fought, and protected the 123km-long vital road, cutting through Truong Son, connecting Phong Nha in Quang Binh with Lum Phum in Bua-La-Pha district, Kham Muon province, Lao PDR to transport goods and weapons to the battlefield during the resistance war against the US to save the country. This road is also known as the “Road of the Twenties” because every inch of land and road here was not only paved with blood and loss, but also the sacrifice and dedication of the youth of generations of soldiers, young volunteers, and frontline laborers.

Located next to the Memorial Temple for the heroic martyrs of Route 20 – Quyet Thang is the historical relic of Tam Co cave associated with the heroic historical story of the sacrifice of the youth volunteers while on duty in November 1972. In addition, there are other historical relics such as: Nurse cave, Xuan Son ferry, Nguyen Van Troi ferry, Phong Nha cave, Tra Ang key point, Ba Thang slope, Ca Roong tunnel, Thong tin cave… also marking the heroic achievements of the steadfast and glorious fight of our army and people in the cause of fighting and defending the Fatherland.

Grand requiem mass for the heroic martyrs who died at Hang Tam Co

From November 12, 2022 to November 13, 2022, at the Memorial Temple of the Heroic Martyrs of Road 20 – Quyet Thang, a Grand Requiem Ceremony will be held for the Heroic Martyrs (AHLS) who sacrificed at Hang Tam Co and on the historic arterial road – Road 20 Quyet Thang, performed by Most Venerable Thich Quang Minh – Member of the Central Cultural Committee of the Vietnam Buddhist Sangha, Standing Member of the Head of the Cultural Committee of the Vietnam Buddhist Sangha of Hai Phong City, Abbot of Thang Phuc Pagoda, Hai Phong, along with monks and Buddhists.
