Removing obstacles for sustainable development of Quang Binh tourism

Quang Binh Provincial People’s Committee held a conference to meet with businesses and investors in the tourism sector of Quang Binh province in the first quarter of 2023 with the theme “Quick recovery – Strong and sustainable development”. Provincial leaders chaired to listen to the opinions and aspirations of tourism businesses in Quang Binh.

The conference aims to exchange and listen to aspirations, constructive suggestions and recommendations; resolve recommendations, remove difficulties and obstacles, and create favorable conditions for businesses and investors to effectively operate in the tourism sector in the province.

At the conference, Chairman of the People’s Committee of Quang Binh province – Mr. Tran Thang asked businesses and investors to be frank, open, and constructive; focus on recommending and proposing solutions so that the Quang Binh tourism industry is ready to welcome tourists in the most thoughtful way during the 2023 tourist season and further, so that the Quang Binh tourism industry can truly “take off” and develop further in the coming time.

Many solutions to eliminate seasonal tourism in Quang Binh

Speaking at the conference, representatives of businesses and investors said that seasonal climate change is the main cause of seasonality in tourism activities in Quang Binh and has a great impact on local tourism development.

Therefore, Quang Binh province needs to create favorable conditions for businesses and investors to diversify and improve the quality of tourism products; build distinct tourism products; focus on investing in tourism infrastructure, organizing cultural and sports events, etc. to attract tourists.

Enterprises and investors also proposed and resolved some difficulties and obstacles, creating favorable conditions for enterprises and investors operating in the tourism sector to develop investment and business activities in the province.

Mr. Tran Thang, Chairman of the Provincial People’s Committee, acknowledged and accepted the opinions, recommendations and proposals of businesses and investors at the conference. At the same time, he frankly acknowledged the shortcomings, limitations, difficulties and challenges of the Quang Binh tourism industry, such as tourism development is still not commensurate with the potential, advantages and opportunities of the province.

Improve facilities for tourists

The Chairman of the Provincial People’s Committee also said that the tourism facilities are degraded and the tourism infrastructure is still lacking in uniformity. The types and products of tourism are not really diverse and rich, the progress of implementing some tourism projects is still slow. The quality and quantity of human resources serving the tourism industry are still limited.

Regarding the viewpoint and orientation for Quang Binh tourism industry to “Recover quickly – Develop strongly and sustainably” in the coming time, the Chairman of the Provincial People’s Committee emphasized the need to focus on further strengthening the connection, information sharing, and companionship between the government and businesses.

Besides, develop and diversify tourism types and products to maximize the potential and strengths of Quang Binh tourism.

In addition, it is necessary to proactively research and apply science and technology to tourism development, especially focusing on promoting digital transformation in both government and businesses to adapt to the context of new technologies (such as artificial intelligence, big data, etc.). Continue to focus on nurturing and promoting the spirit of entrepreneurship in the tourism sector.

Open mechanism to support investors

The Chairman of the Provincial People’s Committee also requested relevant departments, branches, units and localities to seriously absorb and immediately resolve any difficult issues. If there are any remaining problems, they should promptly report to the Provincial People’s Committee for resolution to create the most favorable conditions for businesses and investors to do business during the peak tourist season in 2023 and the following years.

According to the Department of Tourism’s report, the total number of tourists to Quang Binh in 2022 reached more than 2.1 million, 3.7 times higher than the same period in 2021. Of which, international visitors reached more than 33,700, 5.92 times higher than the same period in 2021.

In the first quarter of 2023, the total number of tourists to Quang Binh is estimated to reach nearly 650,000, nearly 4.5 times higher than the same period in 2022, nearly 1.1 times higher than the plan. Of which, international visitors are estimated to reach nearly 21,000, nearly 17.6 times higher than the same period in 2022.
