Returning to the Citadel to pay tribute to the heroic martyrs, many members of the Famtrip Mystery of the Sacred Land could not hide their emotions and tears. The voice of Ms. Tran Thi Phuong Lan – Deputy Head of the Quang Tri Citadel Management Board, narrated the relics and artifacts, making everything come to life, touching the hearts of the listeners:

During 81 days and nights in the summer of 1972, our army and people successfully defended Quang Tri Citadel and Quang Tri Town, contributing significantly to the victory at the Paris Conference, creating momentum for the liberation of the South and the reunification of the country. Under the destructive power of 328 thousand tons of bombs, equivalent to 7 atomic bombs that the US dropped on the two cities of Hiroshima and Nagasaki of Japan in 1945, the Citadel was almost leveled. Thousands of soldiers fought bravely and remained here forever, their bodies no longer intact. Their blood and bones have melted into the ground… Quang Tri Citadel today is not only a historical relic, but also a cemetery – the common resting place of these soldiers.

Listening to that rich Quang Tri accent, we felt the sacredness of this land, where soldiers’ blood mixed with bricks and stones, every centimeter of land soaked in the blood of heroic martyrs.

After listening to Lan’s story, we went to offer incense to President Ho Chi Minh and release lanterns on the Thach Han River.

Offering incense at Truong Son Martyrs Cemetery

After releasing lanterns on Thach Han River, our group went to Truong Son Martyrs Cemetery. The group traveled nearly 40 minutes from the Citadel to the Martyrs Cemetery.

Quang Tri, the land of gratitude for the people and places that have created legends. That is Truong Son Cemetery, the resting place of heroic martyrs from all over the country who sacrificed their lives on the legendary Ho Chi Minh trail during the anti-American war to save the country.
