From July 1, 2025, Quang Tri officially expanded its administrative boundaries after merging the entire Quang Binh province according to Resolution 1680/NQ-UBTVQH15. This event not only changed the administrative structure but also created a land rich in tourism potential, especially spiritual tourism, sea tourism and island tourism.
After the merger, Quang Tri province has a total of 78 commune-level administrative units, specifically:

Thus, after the merger, Quang Tri province has 78 commune-level administrative units, including 69 communes, 08 wards and 01 special zone; of which 68 communes, 08 wards, 01 special zone were formed after the arrangement and 01 commune did not carry out the arrangement, which is Tan Thanh commune (Minh Hoa district).
Quang Binh tourism is famous for the world natural heritage Phong Nha Ke Bang National Park. Quang Tri tourism after the merger will add attractive tourist destinations such as Son Doong Cave – the largest cave in the world, Phong Nha Cave, Paradise Cave, Chay River – Dark Cave, Hava Valley, Cha Loi Cave Discovery, Duong Cam Waterfall Crossing in the Dong Chau Khe Nuoc Trong Nature Reserve, along with destinations in Quang Tri such as Ta Puong Waterfall, Chenh Venh….
