Bang Hot Springs Tourism

From Dong Hoi city, go more than 50km to the intersection, from the east branch of Ho Chi Minh road, turn to Bang hot spring in Kim Thuy commune (Le Thuy district, Quang Binh).
The small asphalt road leading to the stream area is winding and steep. The scenery on both sides of the road is quite poetic. Occasionally, on the way, you will come across small streams flowing through. In the summer, the stream water is still clear and murmuring. The winding streams appear between the slopes of the primeval forest. On both sides of the road, there are a few villages of the Van Kieu ethnic group, making the mountain and forest scenery here even more attractive.

Entering the stream, the characteristic sulfur smell of hot springs continuously wafts towards people along with the steam in the air. The small streams here all have hot water of 60-80oC. The orphaned mounds of earth in the middle of the stream and on both banks seem to add to the mystery of the ink painting that is always filled with steam. The roots of ancient trees or large trees growing on both banks of the stream lean their bodies to reflect on the clear stream…

At the holes that gush from the ground, the water is always boiling at 105 degrees Celsius. Many people, before coming to Bang spring, prepare dozens of chicken and duck eggs to boil right in the holes created by the hot water in the middle of the spring. The eggs are cooked in just 10-15 minutes. But everyone should remember that at Bang hot spring, you should only boil eggs, not chicken or duck. Because this is a mineral spring, the sulfur is very concentrated along with many other minerals that are still in their original form, so it may not be good for us to eat.

Although it is a hot spring, on the mounds of land between the stream and on both banks, the trees are still alive and green. About 300m downstream is a natural hot spring beach with a bathing pool built right in the middle of the stream, with many zinc pipes pouring hot water down day and night. This bathing pool was built by General Dong Sy Nguyen’s Truong Son army during the war against America for soldiers to bathe to treat illness and recuperate. Here, the hot spring water has mixed with a branch of cold spring water, so the water is only 40-45oC, very suitable for bathing. Bang spring hot water is very good for those with joint and skin diseases.

Next to the hot Bang stream is a cold Bang stream, the water is clear and cool, you can see schools of small fish swimming around. With the advantage of being the hottest mineral spring in Vietnam and having a natural hot bath located in the middle of wild forests and green pine hills, Bang stream is an ideal place to build an eco-tourism, resort and medical treatment area. Currently, the scenery of Bang stream area still retains its wild and mysterious features.
