Mo Waterfall in Quang Binh – summer destination

Mo Waterfall is 110km northwest of Dong Hoi city. It is located in Hoa Hop commune, Minh Hoa district, Quang Binh province. Looking down from above, the scenery of Mo Waterfall is stunning. Experience of traveling to Mooc Spring

Mo Waterfall has now been put into tourism exploitation, but is still wild. Mo Waterfall is located close to Ho Chi Minh road, so it is easy to travel to experience. About 200m from Ho Chi Minh road, visitors can take a car to the ticket station to visit the stream. Currently, there are 2 car parking lots for low-chassis and high-chassis cars. Low-chassis cars are parked outside and high-chassis cars are parked inside the reception area.

Mo Waterfall – Beauty of nature

From above, the scenery of Mo Waterfall is stunning, creating a beautiful picture that is rarely found anywhere else. Water from the stream above pours down over each stone step, creating white foam waterfalls, stretching as far as the clouds of hair of fairies in legends.

The higher up, the more beautiful Mo Waterfall is with countless rocks protruding from the waterfall, covered with green moss as if holding people’s footsteps. Downstream, the clear, cool stream flows between the rocks, creating natural, gentle swimming pools for visitors to enjoy the feeling of swimming in the cool water, while relaxing and admiring the natural scenery with many beautiful and fragrant wild flowers.

In particular, the main waterfall of Thac Mo has created a lake of more than 500m2. On hot summer days with the typical hot southwest wind of the Central region, there is nothing better than immersing yourself in the cool, clear, blue water, seeing through to the bottom. Interestingly, although the temperature outside the forest can sometimes reach over 40 degrees Celsius, at the foot of the waterfall it is only about 22 – 26 degrees Celsius, perhaps partly because this place still preserves the primeval forests.

Many mysterious stories at the stream

Not only does it have a captivating beauty, Mo Waterfall also has many mysterious legends. According to Hoa Hop people, the large lake of Thac Mo is also called Troc Voi Lake by local people. Legend has it that on the way to Hoa Son to build the resistance capital, King Ham Nghi and his entourage passed through the waterfall. While crossing the stream, one of the king’s elephants unfortunately got its leg stuck in a crevice in the rock. The army and local people tried to dig a hole in the rock to save the elephant but failed because the rock was too big. The place where people dug a deep hole hoping to move the rock to save the elephant is now the largest lake in Mo Waterfall.

Coming to Mo Waterfall, in addition to sightseeing and bathing in the stream, visitors can also enjoy delicious dishes of Minh Hoa cuisine. You can order dishes such as grilled chicken, snails, forest snails, stream fish and Minh Hoa dishes. These dishes are typical specialties of Minh Hoa people.
