Quang Tri Province is not only known for its rich natural resources but also for its beautiful and pristine island system such as Con Co, Cua Tung and Cua Viet beaches and countless other attractive tourist attractions. This convergence creates a locality with unique and rare resources. Standing out in that picture is Ta Puong Waterfall, a masterpiece of nature located in the western region of Quang Tri, increasingly becoming an attractive destination for the community that loves discovery and adventure travel.
Possessing a series of majestic waterfalls and immense lakes, Ta Puong Waterfall is not only a perfect place to admire the pristine beauty of nature but also an exciting check-in spot for visitors. This is truly one of the top choices for those who are passionate about experience and exploration, especially for those who pursue adventure tourism.
Ta Puong Waterfall Quang Tri, a charming destination in the West
Every time summer comes, bringing with it the harsh sunlight and hot, dry Lao winds, it is also the time when people who love nature desire to travel, return to natural spaces to explore, rest and find relaxation. It would be a big mistake to miss Ta Puong Waterfall – a place considered an unbeatable destination in the mountainous district of Huong Hoa, Quang Tri province.

Journey to the pristine beauty of Ta Puong Quang Tri
Starting from the center of Dong Ha, a journey of about 90km will take you to Ta Puong Waterfall. The transportation system leading to Ta Puong is quite convenient, cars can reach all the way to the commune center. Along the Western Quang Tri route, visitors will be free to admire the majestic natural picture. Appearing before your eyes are the overlapping mountain ranges, interspersed with typical stilt houses of the Van Kieu and Pa Ko ethnic communities, endless coffee plantations, and vast wind power fields hidden among the morning mist and clouds.
Exciting Trekking Experience to Ta Puong Waterfall
To make the journey of discovery and experience more unique and complete, imbued with the “spirit” of discovering the culture of the highlands, we sought the support of a cultural officer of Huong Viet commune and a local in Trang – Ta Puong village to be our travel companions, and at the same time prepare food, drinks and even traditional costumes of the Van Kieu people.
Ta Puong Waterfall consists of two main areas: a higher waterfall, known as the “Upper Waterfall” or Ta Puong 1, and a lower waterfall, known as the “Lower Waterfall” or Ta Puong 2. Following the instructions of our companion, our route started from the upper waterfall and then moved down to the lower waterfall. From the center of Huong Viet commune, it took us about 30 minutes to walk to the first waterfall.

The wild and majestic scenery of Ta Puong Waterfall
The landscape here still retains its original beauty. There were sections where we had to climb steep slopes, and there were sections where we had to follow rugged rocks. Although it was a bit challenging, everyone felt extremely excited. We moved while enjoying the beauty of the primeval forest with many large ancient trees, feeling as if we were surrounded and protected by the whole forest.
In the wind, we could hear the chirping of birds and the sound of rushing water from afar. The natural rocks along the road with countless unique shapes looked impressive. The vegetation along the road and the small stream winding through the old forest also made us want to stop and explore. Finally, when we reached the destination, all members of the group could not help but be stunned by the majesty of Ta Puong Waterfall.

The most beautiful waterfall in Central Vietnam in Quang Tri
In the vast space of the green mountains and forests of Quang Tri, a towering waterfall appears, the water flows strongly, creating white foam. From afar, the waterfall looks like a giant white silk strip proudly stretching across the primeval forest. The waterfall, with an estimated height of over 30 meters, flows strongly from the mountainside, falling down through the challenging vertical cliffs. The main lake here is not too large, but there are many smaller lakes distributed around it.
Natural rocks with diverse shapes, some undulating, some flat, lie between lakes and along both sides of the waterfall. Ta Puong Waterfall has an abundant and stable amount of water all year round. On the large and flat rocks, we can freely admire the majestic waterfall gushing, creating white foam. Large and small lakes with clear, cool water are ideal places for group members to choose to swim, soak and relax, dispelling the summer heat.

After enjoying the scenery at the upper waterfall, we continued to follow the forest trail for about half an hour to reach the lower waterfall. Here, the waterfall is not as impressive as the upper waterfall, from the highest point to the deepest point estimated at about ten meters, but the space is much more open. The lake here has an area of over 5,000 square meters. The water is so clear that you can clearly see the bottom, with a pure jade green color, creating a fresh feeling and extremely attractive to the eyes. If the lakes at the upper waterfall are suitable for swimming, the lake at the lower waterfall is a great place for visitors to raft and enjoy the natural scenery.
Ta Puong Waterfall has not been affected by human intervention, thus preserving its pristine and mysterious beauty. In the middle of the mountains and forests, the white waterfall is like a unique highlight, making the natural picture more romantic and charming. The fresh air and beautiful scenery here give us a feeling of extreme relaxation and excitement.

The heat of summer and all the noise and rush of everyday life seemed to disappear. We freely admired the wild nature, listened to the echoes of the mountains and forests mixed with the sound of waterfalls, relaxed in the cool water, enjoyed the specialties, wore the unique costumes of the Van Kieu people and recorded memorable moments.

Although not yet invested and exploited systematically for tourism activities, Ta Puong Waterfall has long been an attractive destination for tourists, especially young people and those who love “backpacking”. With its outstanding potential, Ta Puong Waterfall Quang Tri has attracted the attention of many investors. There have been many survey teams and initial proposals made to outline a bright future for Ta Puong: building this place into a model destination for tourists to experience the pristine, majestic nature and the unique cultural values of the ethnic minority communities in Western Quang Tri. This also promises to be an attractive destination for international tourists when coming to Vietnam Tourism.

In the orientation of developing tourism into a key economic sector of Huong Hoa district, the local government also pays special attention to promoting the potential of Ta Puong Waterfall. Promotion activities, calling for investment, and building a long-term plan for the development of tourism in Western Quang Tri in Huong Viet commune, with Ta Puong Waterfall as the central nucleus, are being actively implemented.
