As an architecture of the Nguyen Dynasty, built with earth in 1631, it is an ancient rampart system built to protect the ancient capital. The Luy Thay system was designed by the Nguyen Lord’s Military Advisor, Dao Duy Tu (1572-1634) to help the Nguyen Lord in Dang Trong fight against the attacks of the Trinh Lord in Dang Ngoai, thanks to which the Trinh Lord’s army crossed the Gianh River to the South more than 7 times, but was stopped at this pass.

Tam Toa Church:

Built in 1886. This is the largest and most beautiful church in Vietnam. But during the war from 1964 to 1972, the church was destroyed, leaving only the bell tower, the Tam Toa Church Bell Tower reflecting on the poetic Nhat Le River.

Han Mac Tu was baptized here in 1912 with the Christian name Franois Nguyen Trong Tri. During the 8 years from 1964 to 1972, the US Air Force bombed North Vietnam, Dong Hoi was leveled, Tam Toa church was also bombed and collapsed, leaving only the bell tower.
