Quanh Valley Cultural Ecotourism Area

About 7 km west of Dong Hoi city, Vuc Quanh cultural eco-tourism area is located on the barren rocky land of Ho Chi Minh road (Nghia Ninh, Dong Hoi city, Quang Binh province). This place preserves the historical and cultural values ​​of Quang Binh people.

Quanh Valley Cultural Eco-Tourism Area is a land associated with the working and fighting life in the war against the US air force bombing the North between the 60s and 70s of the 20th century of the people of Quang Binh. The historical values ​​with hospitals, field clinics, classrooms, kindergartens, semi-submerged houses and warehouses, A-shaped bunkers, traffic trenches and bomb craters are recreated, simulated vividly, realistically down to every centimeter from the corners of the houses, the bunkers to the trails.

With the values ​​this place brings, in 2009, director Tran Vinh chose this place as the filming location for the 21-episode TV series “The Quiet Old Ferry”. The film depicts the fierce and tragic struggle of the people of Quang Tri in the resistance war against the US to save the country. The fate of people through each character has been portrayed realistically, vividly, close to the range of emotions in the proximity between life and death, between the noble, the great and the selfish, the scheming.

Having the opportunity to meet and talk with director Tran Vinh when he and the film crew came to film in Quanh Valley, he shared that he had gone to many places, but Quanh Valley was the area he liked and liked the most. This place almost completely preserved many valuable scenes and artifacts for the film, such as: a replica of a Quang Binh village during the anti-American war with traffic trenches, A-shaped tunnels, medical stations, classrooms, ferry bridges, streams… Quanh valley “film set” not only contributed to saving costs for the film crew in creating the scene, but also created favorable conditions when they did not have to move much during the filming process.

This place is like an outdoor war history museum and a testament to the nation’s heroism. Right on this land, every inch of land, blade of grass, every artifact, stone, … are historical and cultural evidence reminding today’s and tomorrow’s young generations of a period of fierce war bombs and bullets with the indomitable spirit of the people of Quang Binh in particular and the Vietnamese people in general in the cause of defending the fatherland. Therefore, this is a tourist destination that attracts domestic and foreign tourists to Quang Binh Tourism.
